Between Western NY's history during the lumber industry boom of the 19th and 20th centuries and learning by his father's side throughout his career as a carpenter, artist Kris Kodweis greatly respects local heritage and tradition.

Kris' father, Richard, encouraged him to observe and practice in his workshop from a very young age, strengthening their bond as father and son and fellow artists.

"I grew up around a full woodworking workshop. I actually built my first table at the age of five—well, it was more like four sticks of nice mahogany and a piece of plywood. Safe to say, we've come a long way."

Today, the Kodweises work as a team with over 60 years of woodworking experience combined, fusing their shared passion for traditional carpentry with modern design and manufacturing techniques to create heirloom-quality pieces that honor the natural beauty of their locally sourced materials.
